Master Planning and Design
|
SDM Architects has worked on a few Master Planning projects which range from developing Residential Townships, Cultural Centre, Industrial Manufacturing units, etc. Each project is different as per its location and requirement, so while designing a balanced mix of use for the space is taken into consideration. Our approach is one of a collaborative team spirit which allows diverse ideas within our team of architects to be involved in the project to share and discuss their equally thoughtful and appropriate design ideas. Any Master Plan layout should provide varied options which cater to different urban issues and built form requirements. Our planning process is divided into two sections:
For public and urban design projects, we believe in having equal opportunity for the end user’s involvement and interaction with our team. There is no better way to learn to design for a public space without the involvement of the locals who will be benefitted by the design. One of our project is a 65 Acre Residential Township Project at Alwar, Rajasthan, India which prior to its current use as a Residential Township was used as an Industrial Land. So, the project had its own challenges of being in the heart of the city which is favourable for developing residential buildings / campus while the proximity to rail tracks and old warehouses didn’t support the cause. The design idea considered to create a balanced mix of open and built spaces along with ample infrastructure to create a self-sufficient ecosystem for the inhabitants. Another interesting project for which we studied and worked through understanding Indian cities, culture, heritage, food and people was for Dream City Centre in Mumbai. This cultural centre was meant to provide a cohesive activity space with food joints, handicrafts shops and & performing centres from different states in India which were divided into different pavilions. |
